S: It’s is carried out a descriptive study with the purpose of validating the transvaginal echography in connection with the results pathological anatomy in patient with uterine myoma in patient of the Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga of Cuenca city in the year 2009. MATERIAL AND METHOD: The sample conformed to with 143 patients chosen aleatorily and that they fulfilled the inclusion approaches and exclusion constants in the design. The main discoveries of the transvaginal echography are described, the results of the postoperative pathological anatomy and the sensibility, the specificity, the predictive positive value e is valued, value negative predictive, the index of Youden and the reason of verisimilitude positive and negative of the transvaginal echography in the diagnosis of uterine myoma. RESULTS: The transvaginal echography has a sensibility of 98.0% and a specificity of 83.3%. The predictive positive value is of 97.5% and the predictive negative value of 75.0%. The verisimilitude positive and negative reason of is of 5.76. The Youden index is of 0.79. CONCLUSIONS: The transvaginal echography is a valuable method for the diagnosis of uterine myoma because it is quick, easy, economic and reproducible, with a high sensibility and specificity.
