Poverty, extreme poverty and declining employability have always been the greatest social difficulties in Latin America. According to the Economic Commission for Latin America (ECLAC), the number of people living in poverty reached 184 million, of which 62 million were in extreme poverty. In response to this problem, countries have implemented public policies in order to provide a social protection response; these programs are mainly conditional cash transfers. In Ecuador, several types of bonuses are implemented, but this research focuses on the Human Development Bonus (BDH), since it is necessary not only to know how this stipend affects the perception and motivation of its recipients, because like all bonuses or public policies, they not only have economic objectives but also psychosocial objectives such as work motivation. This research used a qualitative approach, using semi-structured interviews designed for this research, which allows us to obtain a clearer vision of the perception of the recipients of the Human Development Bonus (BDH) and how being a recipient has intervened in their economic development. The main findings allow us to conclude that the BDH is not perceived as a demotivating factor by the interviewees to get a source of employment for its beneficiaries, since the program represents a great help, but they consider that it is not possible to live only on it, so they find the need to seek extra income to cover household expenses, which can be stable or informal.
