dc.description.abstractWe conducted a qualitative research cuantitiva in order to determine the impact of psychological abuse they are exposed to older adults who come to the Health Sub-Centre Quingeo parish of the city of Cuenca in the May-October period of 2013. The elderly population was 655, of which included a sample of 87 male and female persons. To collect data, a questionnaire was 20 questions with two instruments of measurements a questionnaire for the diagnosis of Psychological Abuse and questions that the interviewer had to respond. The development of statistical analysis (tables and graphs) used the SPSS 18 and Microsoft Excel 2010. Results: We found that the total number of older ( 57 % ) were women, and most of them ( 47 % ) were aged between 65 and 75 years and only 12 (14 % ) had more than 85 years. Inside the home where dwells the elderly was observed that the majority ( 36 %) lived with family members, a third of all the / the spouse and 26 % were single. Inflicted actions towards older adults were found in 58 (66 %) of them and of this total, 83 % reported that they perceived it as intentional. Of that total, 65 % reported being a victim of abuse, other actions such as ridicule, abandonment, humiliation, lack of recreation, gestures, rejection and threats were present between 31 % and 46 %, as isolation, terrorizing and forcing percentages of 15 to 22%. Thus we conclude that in the population there is psychological, the aggressors were mostly family members (children, grandchildren and spouse).
