In the present study aimed to examine the microbiological quality of water in purification steps drums and as finished product, Cuenca Factory Bottling Company , also identified the sites of contamination establishing the possible causes of it. The present study is an observational, analytical, prospective cross-sectional. We performed a simple random sample of convenience, under this criterion 432 microbiological analyzes were performed over a period of six weeks between the months of April and June. Microbiological quality indicators selected were total coliforms and aerobic mesophilic bacteria , the same that are mentioned in the technical standard criterion Ecuadorian giving a maximum permissible levels as the water is filled into the various stages of purification , molds and yeasts were selected on three criteria , is an indicator of the factory itself , and this purified water is used as raw material for the production of soft drinks which if standardized its presence , and finally molds and yeasts are indicators of organic matter decomposition. For analyzing the microbiological indicators was employed the method of Millipore ® membrane filter. The data were statistically analyzed using SPSS v.16.0 for Windows, with a significance level of P < 0.05. The results showed low microbiological water quality drums. The stages for the coal purifier and reverse osmosis are the sites that have more pollution in the process.
