dc.description.abstractBackground: Addressing the risk factors associated with musculoskeletal disorders in workers has been a subject widely discussed in recent years, there are worrying figures about the prevalence and incidence of this disorder and the little or no importance to mitigate its causes and consequences. Objective: To identify the prevalence and risk factors associated with musculoskeletal disorders in the Municipality of Azogues. Methods and techniques: This research is descriptive, quantitative and observational, with direct application to 94 workers of the Department of Environmental Management of the Municipality of Azogues in the period 2016. The instrument used was an interview form designed for this research, which prior to its required informed consent from the workers. Results: In the Department of Environmental Management of the Municipality of Azogues, 56,9 % of the workers presented tendonitis and y 34,1 % of low back pain, being the most affected the workers in the area of sweeping and harvesting, since, respectively, 72,4% of harvesters and 89,6% of sweepers perform repetitive movements; 37,9% and 15,4% handle loads; 48,2% and 44,9% maintained forced positions; 55,1% and 22, 3% apply forces
