| dc.description.abstract | Sociolinguistics is a discipline that bases its theory on the influence exerted by language and society. That is, it’s in charge of the study of languages, both diachronically and synchronously within its social context. So, in the first instance, this research is based on a sociolinguistic perspective for the lexical-semantic analysis of the slang of the urban tribe "metalheads" in Cuenca’s city, because we explain, based on ethnographic methodology, urban cultures, its origin, concept, history, evolution and we describe the different youth cultures as the result of the social changes that have arisen during postmodernity. In addition, we characterize and describe the countercultural group "metalheads" at a general level, by studying elements that shape them as a youth culture and areas that determine them as an urban tribe, until they reach the specific case of Ecuador in the Cuenca’s city. Finally, we analyze from the sociolinguistic approach the lexical and semantic variations that occur in the language used by the "metalheads" in the city of Cuenca, its construction mechanisms and its different meanings. For this, information was collected through the ethnographic method: direct and participant observation, semi-structured interviews and life stories. Finally, we present an elaborated lexical-semantic glossary of terms based on the data obtained during the research process that determines the linguistic variations and the uses that’re presented in their argotic language. | |
