dc.description.abstractThe aim of this study is to analyze the influence of the territorial relocation process in the life perspectives of the Community of Chalacay, Azuay province. This process was the result of the fields’ acquisition by the Public Enterprise CELEC EP (Hidropaute) after the construction of the reservoir for the Hydroelectric Power Plant, from March 2017 to January 2019. This research is an exploratory-descriptive case of study with an interpretative paradigm through a qualitative approach. The used techniques for data collection were timeline construction, talking map, and life histories interviews. The obtained results perform that the relocation process has affected some life perspectives of the community regarding its identity, its productive mission and its social organization. Moreover, the community presents negative attitudes and feelings, such as conflicts between inhabitants, migration increase, and loss of cultural and environmental goods. In conclusion, the relocation process produced mainly negative consequences with a deep impact on the community. Therefore, this process has not accordance either to the established constitutional regulations on the topic, neither to the objectives and guarantees established in the National Development Plan.
