To determine serum levels of prostate-specific antigen [PSA] for age and PSA density [DPSA]. Material and Methods: 250 patients older than 40 years who attended the urological consultation Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital over a period of four years with urinary irritative and obstructive symptoms were selected. Results: The study was carried out in 224 patients based on symptoms: voiding effort [20.53] percent, decreased urinary flow [73.21] percent, dribbling [47.76] by his belt, dysuria [75.44] percent, frequency [60.26 ] percent and nocturia [58.92] percent. PSA values in the age group of 40-49 years was higher than reported as normal [4.01 vs. 2.9 ng / ml], in others they were similar. The PSA average was 4.62 + - 3.32 ng / ml and the average was 0.09 PABD + - 0.38. Conclusion: The values found in our environment differ from those reported in the literature. Although the PSA does not become a truly useful marker for diagnosis of malignancy, the specific reference values for age continue recommending its clinical utility
