Objective: To know frequency and characteristics of the kidney morphological alterations, because hypertension through the use of Doppler Ultrasound in the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital. Materials and Methods: The study included 120 people with hypertension, who were treated by Internist sand Cardiologists Doctors in the outpatient area, then were referred to the Department of Imaging for the realization of kidney Doppler ultrasound. Results: The 72.5% of patients were female, the average age was located in 63.46 years with a duration of illness of 8.57 years; 45 patients had dyslipidemia, the 96.7% of the population received antihypertensive treatment, while the average time of treatment in takes tood at 7.21years. In both kidneys the transverse diameter had measures between5-6cm in most cases, and with a diameter of 10 to 11cm, and in diameter with most frequency anteroposterior, were superior to 4cm. Bilaterally 90% of patients had normal kidney ultrasound; while 100% of patients found the corticomedullary part without pathology. In the renal Doppler study the intraparenchymal resistance index was less than 0.65 in the left kidney with 50% and the right kidney was in creased to 0.70 with 25.8%. As renal/aorta ratio was common to find that this was less than 3. Systolic velocity of the two kidneys was among the range of 74 to 127 cm/sec. Conclusions: The Doppler ultrasound allows a proper study of kidney damage caused by hypertension, makes it a specific study to our environment. DESCRIPTORS: KIDNEY DOPPLER, RESISTANCE INDEX, RENAL ARTERIES, HYPERTENSION.
