Background: Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death worldwide. To determine the likelihood of suffering from multiple tables exist, however, they may underestimate the risk because they do not consider all risk factors. Objective: Estimate the Total Cardiovascular Risk Prevalence and associated risk factors in patients with T2DM. Methodology: Descriptive-Transversal study where we value 332 diabetic patients DONUM foundation in the city of Cuenca in 2012, selected by quota sampling. We calculated the Total Cardiovascular Risk and prevalence of risk factors. The data were obtained by direct interview, clinical measurements and laboratory testing. Results: Of the 332 patients, 74.4% were female and 25.6% male. The mean age was 61.59 years. The 36.4% of the population showed a low total RCV while 1.5% of the population had a very high total cardiovascular risk, and 40.1% of patients admitted to the cardiovascular risk stratification. The more risk factors were obesity prevalence (91.6%) and hypertension (58.1%) and the lowest prevalence were snuff consumption (9.6%) and family history of premature CVD (4.8%) . Conclusions: The low cardiovascular risk was the most prevalent in the study population, the most common risk factor was obesity. Risk factors not included in the tables, had a high prevalence in the population, so one might assume that the risk is determined by tables underestimated.
