D: Preterm delivery is a global health problem, with a prevalence of 11%, the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in children under 5 years old; strategies at a global, national and local level aim to reduce its complications, ultrasound constitutes an important support. OBJECTIVES: To determine preterm delivery associated with sludge and length of the cervix using ultrasound, Hospital “José Carrasco Arteaga”, 2020-2021. METHODS: Cross-sectional analytical study in the Imaging Department of Hospital de Especialidades "José Carrasco Arteaga" from 2020 to 2021, with 160 pregnant women between 22 to 36 weeks 6 days; through obstetric and / or transvaginal ultrasound, the length of the cervix and the presence of amniotic sludge were evaluated, looking for its association with preterm delivery. Data were collected in a form, analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics in 2x2 tables, bivariate analysis with prevalence ratio, 95% confidence interval and chi square. RESULTS: Preterm delivery frequency was 36.30% (58 patients). The variables are found in the majority of the population with preterm delivery, 10.63% had a length of the cervix less than or equal to 25 mm (PR 1.72 95% CI 1.14 - 2.59 p 0.016). 12.50% with amniotic sludge (PR 1.81 95% CI 1.22 - 2.68 p 0.006); with statistical significance. CONCLUSIONS: Preterm delivery has a high prevalence, shortening of the cervix and the presence of amniotic sludge are significant risk factors.
