dc.description.abstractIn the work presented below is a brief description of the wood and its use in the design of structural elements is done. It is explained and the concept of structural diaphragm and its operation, as well as the types of structural frameworks and different configuration modes is described in detail. The problem behavior of a diaphragm as rigid arises and is about to reach a general method to prove this hypothesis accurately. In the end, with an example, the behavior of wood diaphragms is analyzed from the same design, using Equation 23-1 International Building Code 2006, which determines the deflection due to shear loads, the results provide this equation, determine whether diaphragms are flexible or rigid. Ultimately, a set of EXCEL spreadsheets that allow easily and quickly determine the design of the diaphragms and its respective frameworks and subsequent analysis, including plans made Example is prepared.
