dc.description.abstractThe housing shortage in Ecuador represents 30% of all households made. The comfortable design of the social housing has been exempted from studies that allow its occupants feel comfortable in their homes and it has only solved the economics aspect, neglecting the energy efficiency. Three steps were previously required to obtain three design guidelines: First, a theoretical basis about the generalities of comfort inside a house and what are the issues that determine it. Second, the analysis of social housing allowed us see the growth occurred over the years; providing guidelines that must be taken into account, with successes and failures, for the initial design and its progression over time. And third, a series of bioclimatic strategies that will improve the environmental performance inside the housing, to save materials in its construction and above all, to allow in their growth these conditions to be maintained. This is a seed project that aims to be a starting point for improving existing social housing policies through an analysis of this type of housing programs and define new designs that must be seen as an investment rather than an expensive.
