The problem of determining whether graffiti in Guayaquil is an artistic expression that should be expanded within the urban and regenerated areas is something that has been discussed for many years. Graffiti in Guayaquil has always been a debatable topic which involves city authorities, urban artists and society in general, each party with a particular posture based on their own interests on the topic. If we compare this situation with the reality of Cuenca, it becomes evident the support graffiti receive and that it contributes to the artistic and cultural development of the city, which can be placed as an example to be followed. The study of this dilemma will be analyzed from the social, geographical and aesthetic perspectives, discouraging the negative connotation it receives as a delictive activity with the purpose of highlighting the valorization that artistic graffiti should receive within Guayaquil and the cultural input it can offer to the urban regeneration project.
