The architects of the modern period in Ecuador considered photography as an important element to record and disseminate their work. This work is based on this importance, focusing on the photographic documentation of Ecuadorian modern architecture. This thesis was based on the contextualization of the topic, revealing how photography was developed and how it is linked to architecture in different countries of America and Europe. Then an investigation was conducted about photography of modern architecture in the country, from different photographic archives, publications and photographers of the time in Cuenca, Guayaquil and Quito. After the investigative process, two main photographers were selected: Rolf Blomberg and Christoph Hirtz. Their photographic work were studied, based on criteria of value of good architectural photography. Subsequently, through images the modifications that have been made, until now, on architectural works and their environment were analyzed. The work allowed to collect information that was scattered. For their diffusion a database was created, which is available as a means of consultation for future research. This database consists of all the information gathered from the Ecuadorian photographers of modern architecture that could be found in the different files.
