dc.description.abstractThe objective of the present academic work is expose the transformation performed by an artwork, from its creation to the point where it becomes a commodity. In order to achieve this objective, we have taken as a starting point the aesthetic approaches made by Hegel, in addition to the approaches made by Marxism, in order to justify the existence of art and its necessity. Then we will relate the artwork with the Marx's economic theory in which the concepts of value of use and exchange value are applied to the artworks. However, art cannot be treated as a simple commodity. This is why it is necessary to expose the relationship between art and the world of commodities in general and with the art market, acquiring a different dimension according to the relationship established.
