The creation of compositions based on loop techniques has been little explored within the Musical Arts career at the University of Cuenca. The object of study of this project deals with the loop-based music creation technique within a DAW (Ableton). An EP of 4 musical themes was created within the ambient genre with a minimalist aesthetic. The objectives were the definition of concepts about the chosen genre, the approach of a methodology of composition techniques and the realization of them. The research techniques used were the bibliographic review and for the realization of the compositions, authors of the genre such as Brian Eno and Terry Riley were used as reference for the creation of loops. The main results of the work include a theoretical basis of the ambient genre within a minimalist aesthetic; also the formal analysis of the composed works based on the methodology of Philip Tagg. The paper concludes that the compositional possibilities of the ambient genre within a DAW are feasible, taking into account the technological approach within the educational learning process.
