dc.description.abstractINTROCUCTION: Unwanted pregnancy is one that is not wanted at all; at that time or in the future (1)(2). OBJETIVE: Identify the frequency and characteristics related to unwanted pregnancy in adolescents attending the obstetrics service of the Hospital "Vicente Corral Moscoso", 2018. METHODOLOGY: A descriptive study was carried out in the Obstetrics Department of the Hospital "Vicente Corral Moscoso" in the city of Cuenca, 2018. The sample of 311 adolescents in postpartum. The data were collected through surveys and the data related to violence was taken from the clinical history. For the tabulation the statistical program SPSS was used and for the analysis descriptive statistics was used. RESULTS: The frequency of unwanted pregnancy in adolescents was 22.8%. The majority of them were 19 years old (26.8%) and began their sexual life between 15 and 17 years old, finished only the school (62%) and had an unpaid job (90.1%), half of them considered aborting (53.3%), for a significant percentage this was their first pregnancy (82.1%), they received lessons on contraception (77.5%), however, they did not apply them (63.4%). They consumed alcohol and drugs prior to pregnancy by 28.1% and 8.4% respectively. 4.2% reported being a victim of sexual violence
