dc.description.abstractGeneral background: The majority of indigenous people maintain their ancestral ethnic identity, language, and cultural values. Traditional healing systems persist over time, maintaining healing strategies through knowledge that last for generations. Objective: To identify the customs and traditions narrated about health among the elderly in the Quilloac community, belonging to the province of Cañar, 2014 Material and method: The research is an ethnographic, ethnohistorical and narrative. It was worked with a focus group of 15 adults over 65 years old of the Quilloac community; depth interviews and surveys were used as a procedural. A collection of questions developed by the authors on the sociocultural categories, customs and traditional practices were used as a tool. The information collected helped us build concepts and definitions that enriched our knowledge and traditions of the redeemed community. Results: This research helped us identify the customs and traditions practiced in health older adults; most of the studied population remains to be used infusions of herbs to heal the diseases.
