Starts from a detailed study on the history of the Tolita Culture, from its geographical and chronological location, through its cultural and archaeological significance to its plastic and technological production, highlighting its iconographic richness, abundant, and of great aesthetic value, of religious, quotidian and ritual origin. This first section is already complemented with general notions of pre-Columbian Andean design, their semiotics, language, symbolism, and their worldview are exposed. Secondly, the fundamentals about editorial design: format, space, text and image, balance and harmony, reticule, typography, composition, color and its terminology, hierarchies and photography, which are expanded and employed in subsequent instances. Similarly, at this time, concepts are incorporated about different elements of basic design, such as: shape, size, structure, direction, space, texture and color. Finally, the last chapter is exclusively devoted to the design process itself, in which an individual analysis of five photographs selected according to the complexity of the shape and its possible significance, including decorative, worship and utilities objects with anthropomorphic, anthrop zoomorphic and geometric figures, is developed. The content of this research ends with recommendations and conclusions, and personal criteria, intended to be considered in the future for those interested in similar studies.
