Objective. Determine the prevalence of cesarean delivery after 35 years old at the José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital, for a one year period. Material and methods. With a cross-sectional design, we collected all maternal age 35 years old who were seen at its birth by Cesarean section in a calendar year period, from March 2010 to March 2011. Results. The prevalence of cesarean delivery after 35 years old is about 8.8% of deliveries per year and 18.9% for cesarean sections per year. The clinical conditions related to pregnancy after 35 years old were hypertension, diabetes mellitus, overweight and obesity. Discussion. The epidemiological characteristics of our patients differ from the published reports on their obstetric history describing a multiparous woman at an early age.
