dc.description.abstractBACKGROUND: From premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) is a condition in which the woman who suffers it can become debilitating enough to function in normal life. It is based on a combination of somatic and psychological symptoms that occur during the luteal phase of menstruation, affecting between 3 to 8% of young women starting in adolescence. (3) (18) GENERAL OBJECTIVE: To determine the prevalence and factors associated with Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder in students of Manuela Garaicoa de Calderón high school, Cuenca 2015. METHODS: We conducted a cross study. Area of study: Manuela Garaicoa de Calderón high school. Universe: 1703 students. Sample: 440 students were obtained by Epi Info 7 program, with a confidence interval of 95%, an expected frequency more 3%, confidence limit 5%, design effects 1%. The selection of the sample was obtained from Epidat 3.1 program by simple random sampling. To obtain the data was applied a survey based on the DSM V and associated factors. The tabulation of the data was performed using SPSS version 15.0. For the analysis were used frequencies, percentages, prevalence ratio, confidence index 95% and p Value to determine statistical association. Tables were developed according to the objectives using the Microsoft Excel 2010 program. RESULTS: Based on DSM V, the prevalence of Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder was 8.41%. Of the associated factors studied found that heredity was a risk factor with an RP: 4.76 p Value: 0.02, which was valued subjectively. CONCLUSIONS: Adolescents with higher risk of PMDD in Manuela Garaicoa de Calderón high school are students those are related in terms of heredity.
