dc.description.abstractBackground: postpartum depression is the affective alteration that occurs most frequently in the maternity stage, according to the statistics it harms 10% and 15% 1,2 Objective: to describe the socio-economic and obstetric determinants in users with postpartum depression at the Ricaurte CSR. Cuenca, 2018. Methodology: descriptive cross-sectional study. The universe is constituted by 171 postpartum users who visit the Ricaurte Health Facility; for the sample calculation, a Pita Fernández formula was used that provides a result of 104 users. The data collection was carried out through a structured form, elaborated and modified by the researchers, and the social support questionnaire (MOS, 1991) and the postpartum depression scale of Edinburgh were used (Cox and Col, 1987). The data obtained were analyzed through the SPSS program, version 21, and presented in tables of frequencies and percentages with their respective descriptive analyzes. Results: 71.1% of users surveyed had postpartum depression, of which 36.6% were between 18 and 25 years old, 39.4% had completed high school, 27.9% were married and 54.8% were housewives. Regarding the obstetric determinants, 40.3% were primigravites, 44.2% had eutocic births and 39.4% did not plan their pregnancy. 56.7% of mothers reported having medium social support. Conclusions: the socio-economic and obstetric determinants most related to postpartum depression were: occupation, type of delivery, number of feats and parity.
