Maintaining the vitality of protected cities has become one of the most complex challenges to be solved at present. This work sought to identify the intangible heritage reserves within the built heritage in Cuenca, after 10 years of being registered as a cultural heritage of humanity. The research reveals a clear tendency of transformations of uses in the historical fabrics of the city. This article concludes with some reflections that could contribute to the adoption of public policies aimed at addressing this problem.
