dc.description.abstractThe present degree work called road security integral plan focused to the road infrastructure for school zones of Guano Canton, Chimborazo Province has as an aim to reduce the risk of injuries and deaths caused by the transit. First, the study areas were zoned where four zones which hosted to six educational institution were identified, then to make a pedestrian counting from the access of each educational unit to the different canton sectors, the pedestrian counting was carried out on the students entry and departure times with the purpose of naming "route, safe road" to the direction with the greatest pedestrian flow, later with a checking list the existing road infrastructure verification was realised, in situ, observed from a road security perspective, to the different parameters, such as: the geometry of the road, horizontal and vertical signalling, sidewalks, roadways. Therefore, it was determined that the existing road infrastructure do not comply with the technical lineaments of the current regulations, since the horizontal signalling in all the school zones is diffused, while that the vertical signalling is limited, in addition, the sidewalks are hampered and they have an inadequate surface for a right pedestrian mobilization, so also, the roadway has road failures and obstructions in the road sumps. Consequently, solutions to the identified issues were established, such as: the roadway maintenance, resurfacing of streets with greater road failures, road sumps cleaning, building and retrofitting of sidewalks, vertical and horizontal signal implementation and maintenance, complying with the stablished parameters in the current regulation, also, the project referential cost was developed. It is recommended to the Autonomous Decentralised Government of Guano Canton takes into account the present study to give greater security to the movement of students, parents, teachers and general citizenship.
