dc.description.abstractThe objective of this degree work is to reduce the values of gas emissions pollutants by applying an electronic control module to the ignition with the implementation of a double spark plug in a 200cc OHV single cylinder engine carburetion of Chinese origin. Once the technical aspects of the engine were known, the necessary electronic elements were chosen to design and build the ignition control module, and an Arduino is in charge of managing the input signal from the position pickup coil of the crankshaft (trigger). Which is properly conditioned through a high-pass filter and then amplified and converted from analog to digital for analysis. Moreover, controlling a signal of output for the activation of the high voltage coil which is subjected to a step of power. Additionally, an ignition advance equation was used as a function of the revolutions per minute within its programming so that the spark gap at each spark plug occurs at the precise moment, and in this way, the combustion is as complete as possible. Tools such as the arithmetic mean were used for statistical analysis to reduce the quantities from several measurements. One for each operating condition giving as result in a significant difference between synchronous and asynchronous configurations. The synchronous configuration was the best for more efficient combustion. It is concluded that when using an ignition module that controls two spark plugs results in a decrease in ignition pollutant emissions from the single-cylinder engine. It is recommended to supplement the dual spark ignition with an electronic fuel injection system for the purpose to obtain more precise dosages than those provided by the carburetor system.
