dc.description.abstract | The objective of the present investigation was to develop the formation of a photoresist based on the hydroalcoholic extract of the leaves of Passiflora quadrangularis (L) and to determine its quality. The quality control of the vegetable drug was carried out by analyzing the moisture content, total ashes soluble in water and insoluble in hydrochloric acid. The presence of phenolic compounds among them flavonoids in the aerial parts of Passiflora quadrangularis (L) was determined qualitatively in the phytochemical screening. The vegetal material was extracted with 70% ethanol in a ratio (1:10) and was concentrated in the rotavapor to which the quality and yield control tests were carried out. The content of phenols and total flavonoids was quantified by spectrophotometric methods. The in vitro sun protection factor (SPF) of both the hydroalcoholic extract and the cream was determined by Mansur's method and equation. The best SPF of the dry extract was obtained at a concentration of 1000 ppm with a value of 30.6 which was used as a basis for the formulation of the photoresist, natural ingredients were incorporated, including olive, avocado and wheat germ oils , the latter being the one that showed the greatest synergy in the extract, obtaining an SPF of 40.1 in the cream. The physical, chemical, microbiological and quality control controls of the cream were carried out, demonstrating its efficacy and safety at the topical level. It was confirmed through the accelerated stability test that the cream meets the specifications established with the COLIPA standards of effectiveness of cosmetic products. In this way, the formulation of a sunscreen based on the extract of leaves of Passiflora quadrangularis was obtained. It is recommended to prepare other types of cosmetic form from the extract as gels, compact powders and make various combinations with other plant extracts to determine their effectiveness and level of photoprotection. | |
