dc.description.abstract | The objective was to design a wastewater treatment system for Malimpia parish, Quininde canton, Esmeraldas province. The characterization of water from the direct discharges of the sewage system was carried out in Guayllabamba River. In addition to the measurements of its flow that made the busiest days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) in the peak hours (09h00, 13h30, 18h30), providing a flow of gauging of 3.26 L/s. A sample was obtained to perform the physical-chemical and microbiological analysis that demonstrated the following parameters: Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD5) 280 mg/L, Oxygen Chemical Demand (OCD) 540 mg/L, Total Nitrogen Kjedahl 69 mg/L, Faecal Coliforms 3.7, 10 5 UFC/100 ml, was found outside the limits allowed in the TULSMA, Ministerial Agreement 097 of November 4th, 2015, Table 9, discharge limits of a freshwater body, due to this, the treatment by the use of starch Manihot Esculenta (yucca) 55 ml was developed and the activated sludge process based on this was proposed a system for its purification; consist of rectangular channel, grids, equalizing tank, biological reactor, secondary sediment and filtration from which obtained removal percentages: DB05 67%, DQO 77.66%,Total Nitrogen Kjedahl 59%, Faecal Coliforms 99.61%, granting values that complies with the Current regulations and corroborating the efficiency of the proposed system. | |
