A sample of skin tanning effluents was subjected to electro-flotation treatment in order to evaluate the efficiency of said treatment in chromium removal, initially the physical-chemical parameters of the effluent were characterized, having an initial total chromium concentration of 16 g / l and a DQO of 19600 mg / l, the electro flotation cell was constructed in acrylic, with a base of 11 x 11 cm and a height of 15 cm, with a binary configuration of Electrodes that is a soluble anode and a stable cathode with high standard reduction potential, 3 combinations of electrodes (E) the first combination (E1): iron mesh as anode and stainless steel plate as cathode, the second (E2) were used: iron mesh as anode and graphite as cathode, the third combination (E3): iron mesh as anode and copper plate as cathode, connected to a power source of 1 Ampere and 12 volts. 4 treatment times T were applied, the first T1 consisted of subjecting the effluent to the electro-flotation process for 15 minutes, the time T2 was subjected to 30 minutes, the time T3 was 45 minutes, while T4 was 45 minutes of electro flotation and 1 day of precipitation. The results show that the longer the treatment time, the greater the removal efficiency and that the treated effluent needs to rest so that the destabilized particles precipitate. The E2T4 treatment was the one that obtained 64.64% chromium reduction and 58.34% DQO. It is recommended in future research to increase both the treatment time.
