The objective of the research was to determine the best treatment for the propagation of Cedrela montana and evaluate the development of the seedlings during 20, 40 and 60 days. The trial began with the collection of cedar seeds based on the phenological calendar and the superior phenotypic characteristics of the species, storage, seed classification and preparation of substrates for sowing. A Randomized Complete Block Design experimental design was applied with 6 treatments and 3 replications. For the development of this work, data were recorded on the percentage of germination 30 days after sowing and seedling development (height, diameter at neck height, number of leaves) during 20, 40 and 60 days after the appearance of true leaves. Tukey's test was used for the analysis of variance at 5% significance using InfoStat software. Regarding the germination variable at 30 days, it was determined that the treatments were different, the T2 treatment (60% black soil + 40% coconut fiber + cold water for 6 hours), showed the best results with a germination percentage of 38.33% in the seeds, and for the T2 treatment (60% black soil + 40% coconut fiber + cold water for 6 hours), showed the best results with a germination percentage of 38.33% in the seeds. For the seedling development variable, treatment T2 (60% black soil + 40% coconut fiber + cold water for 6 hours) showed the best results compared to the other treatments, obtaining the following results: DAC (2.1 mm), height (8.7 cm) and number of leaves (4). It is recommended to use the T2 treatment (60% black soil + 40% coconut fiber + cold water for 6 hours), for presenting the highest percentage of germination and growth in height, diameter at the height of the neck and number of leaves.
