dc.description.abstractThe thesis called "Incidence of interprovincial public transportation system of passengers over the intraprovincial transportation system, Case Study: Canton Montalvo-Babahoyo route” retended to establish the level of incidence and impact caused by the transportation service from the route previously mentioned. In order to conduct this study, an interview was applied to the managers of the intraprovincial transportation system which allowed to obtain their opinions about its current operations; a survey applied to all the members or drivers of intraprovincial transportation associations about passengers loading and unloading capacity which allowed to obtain an estimate about the demand of passengers under the area of study. The results showed that the 2 existing intraprovincial operators in the area have been seriously affected, i.e the company CITAM with 27 members and the company IMCA with 22 members, due to other 14 interprovincial companies circulate along the area, like the Bolívar Company with the highest number of frequencies which directly causes a reduction in demand with 4.3% users. To mitigate this problem, some strategies were proposed such as bus stop control programs, the design of a strategic bus stop and a passenger boarding control system. In this way, it is concluded that there exits a negative incidence of the interprovincial transportation system over the intraprovincial transportation system which has worsened due to the Covid-19 pandemic, flecting a reduction of users and a lower income margin, in such a way that, regulatory and control entities are recommended to consider the ideas presented in this study or offer an alternative to mitigate the existing problems in the area.
