This study aims to optimize a drilling mesh and blasting by using Holmberg and Konya methodology in Grumintor mine of Pinglio concession. It was developed as a field research focused on a quantitative approach, a direct observation and experimental technique were applied; it was made an analysis of the physical properties of rock mass, especially about the rock resistance to compressive forces. Methodologies used were based on data sheets to obtain the information about the geological conditions of the mine and working equipments; also, about explosives features, which let establish numeric data to be applied to mathematical equations of each method. Subsequently, based on their results, it was conducted a comparison, setting advantages and disadvantages of each method to determine the most convenient one during the activity of mining extraction in Grumintor. As a result of the comparison between the drilling mesh and blasting, it was determined that the application of Holmberg method would produce a reduce rock size, which would ease projecting area cleaning; instead, Konya methodology would generate bigger size rocks, as it would be necessary applying a secondary demolition. In conclusion, by applying Holmberg blasting methodology, would help to obtain a well-balanced blasted material; also, the drilling and blasting cycle would be completed in less time. It is recommended an ongoing staff training regarding drilling and blasting design and methodology according to the mine geological features.
