Resumen
The aim of the research was the elaboration and quality control of an anti-inflammatory ointment based on matico (Aristeguietia glutinosa). To obtain the ideal anti-inflammatory ointment, the Formulario Nacional Español Segunda Edición and Farmacopea Brasileña were used as references, as well as the parameters established in the Standardized Operating Procedure (SOP) of the Laboratory of Magistral and Officinal Formulas of the Sciences College, ESPOCH. Once the best conditions were selected, twenty formulations were elaborated and the one with acceptable characteristics was chosen in order to carry out quality control. For the production of the anti-inflammatory ointment based on the hydroalcoholic extract of Aristeguietia glutinosa leaves, the SOP was carried out, which contains all the detailed information on the preparation of this officinal formula. Regarding the quality control of the best formulation, the ointment was exposed to a stability chamber for 21 days at controlled temperature and relative humidity, subjecting the formula to stress situations; obtaining satisfactory results, since the characteristics of the ointment remained stable throughout the test. The evaluation of the physical-chemical quality parameters showed that the selected formulation complied with quality standards, the same ones that determined the ointment is suitable for direct contact with the skin. The results obtained allowed us to conclude that this achieved formulation complies with all the quality parameters established by the regulatory bodies, it is very attractive to the consumer and is made of natural products. In future research, it is suggested to carry out toxicity studies when working with plant extracts, since a high concentration can affect consumer’s health.
