In this project urea formaldehyde resin was used to replace the formulation of the company Arboriente S.A that currently works with urea formaldehyde liquid resin, in order to improve the quality of the gluing of the plywood. It begins with an exhaustive bibliographical investigation of the variables that relate the adhesive with the wood; the experimental part comprises four phases: the pilot formulation, first, second and third formulation. Each of these phases uses 3 copal wood boards, giving a total of 12 industrial type II boards of 4mm thickness. With the exception of the pilot formulation, the phases pass through the company's regular production line, avoiding variations in manufacturing conditions. The experimentation phases include the determination of the viscosity of the prepared adhesive, spreading and quality tests of the boards. These tests are carried out for the purpose of quantifying the percentage of delamination of the same by testing three cycles of bonding, formaldehyde emissions by the desiccant method and moisture content, all under INEN, INCONTEC standards and standards the company. The pilot phase serves as recognition and adjustments of the procedures, the first formulation has negative results in the quality tests that improve with the second formulation and become excellent in the third. This last phase has a 0% delamination in the test of the three shells with formaldehyde emissions relatively low to those normally obtained. The optimal formulation with formaldehyde urea resin powder is determined and characterized in terms of gel time, pH, density, Brookfield viscosity and rheology concluding that this projects is totally viable in terms of quality and production costs of plywood.
