dc.description.abstract | The impeller of a centrifuga! pump is a mechanical element that is capable of transferring energy to the fluid to impulse it, the modeling of a centrifuga! pump impeller is a process that requires high precision, in the present work reverse engineering techniques are used to achieve the modeling of the impeller. One of the important aspects before the construction of an impeller is to establish a suitable and efficient geometry, currently the computational methods are very useful in the design of mechanical parts, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) applies the finite volume method to generate simulated models offluid mechanics problems. In the present work, a centrifuga! pump impeller mo del is used to obtain the volume of control generated by the fluid passing through the impeller. This volume is discretized and establishes the conditions of the phenomenon under study. The computer solves systems of equations that allow to visualize the behavior of the fluid by means of color codes. These color codes are helpful to analyze the efficiency of the pump and for its subsequent design and material selection. | |
