In the tannery laboratory of the Livestock Science school from the Escuela Superior Politecnica de Chimborazo, Chimborazo province sheep leather was elaborated through the application of different levels (4,5 and 6%), of synthetic tanning in the ovine skins (ovis aries) wet finish process, and the physical resistances (lastometria, tension and elongation) as well as the sensory evaluation (intensity of color, plain and softness) were evaluated. 24 ovine skins of adult animals were used distributed in eight repetitions with an experimental unit of an ovine leather. The analyzes were carried out in the leather tanning laboratory. Distributed under a simple random design. The results were studied through the variance analysis, means comparison, regression and multiple correlation for the physical resistances evaluation and the Krukall Wallis analysis for sensory qualifications. The results indicate that when using 6% of synthetic tanning it reaches the tensile strength highest values (22186.59 N / cm2), elongation percentage (82.25%) and lastometria (10.13 mm). The sensory evaluation identified a greater acceptance by the judge when using 6% synthetic tanning, reaching an excellent rating for fullness (4.75 points), softness (4.63 points) and color intensity (4.75 points). When carrying out the economic evaluation, a greater benefit-cost ratio was obtained when the 6% of synthetic tannery was used which was 1.34, that is, for each dollar invested a profit of 34 cents is expected. the tannery apply 6% synthetic tanning in the ovine leathers wet finishing process and obtain a top quality material in the women's footwear making.
