dc.description.abstract | The objective of this study was to design, calculate, select and build automated equipment to perform standard bending tests for polymer matrix composite materials for the Chimborazo Polytechnic School located in the city of Riobamba, Chimborazo province as part of the implementation and modernization of laboratories in order to benefit students, industries and people in general interested in knowing flexural properties of a certain composite material. An ideal selection of all the structural, hydraulic and electronic systems was made in order to guarantee real results and with a high degree of reliability. To use the ASTM D 7264 standard was essential to develop the study since it contains all the requirements that the equipment must meet. The automation will allow the control of the equipment by entering the mass' value and the number of cycles in an HMI. Finally, the design, construction and commissioning of the equipment with local technology were carried out correctly. It is expected to be a piece of significant equipment in the educational, industrial field, and it will be helpful for anyone interested in knowing the behaviour of new composite materials that want to be introduced in engineering projects. | |
