| dc.description.abstract | The following investigation's objective: to determine the ecological restoration opportunities of the San Carlos paramo in the Valparaíso parish, guano canton, Chimborazo province, through the participation of the population, primary information is collected, through field trips, workshops, it was obtained through secondary information from the review of documents related to the subject. The current situational diagnosis of the area was elaborated based on five aspects: spatial physical, territorial ecological, economic productive, socio cultural and political administrative. Applying the 5s methodology (The Nature Conservancy) within the situational analysis, four focal conservation objectives were identified: paramo, water source "Yana Cocha", paramo wolf (Lycalopex culpaeus), chuquiragua (chuquiragua insignis), these objects were qualified in Based on the size, condition and landscape context, through the pressures and sources of pressure, the strategies, objectives and expected results for each conservation focal object were identified. For the identification of the areas with potential for ecological restoration, it was carried out by means of zoning by means of previous study, three functional spaces or zones were identified; of absolute protection, zone of sustainable use of resources, zone of human settlements. In the elaboration of strategies for the restoration of the San Carlos paramo, it was carried out through programs and projects using the matrix of the logical framework where four programs and six projects were carried out, which will help the ecological restoration of the parish of the Valparaíso parish, with an investment of $ 39,620.00 approximately with a period of five years where the parish and its communities commit to work responsibly through agreements with public and private entities.
