The main objective of this study was to determine the effect of exhaust gases by use of enhancers, octane boosters and additives in the polluting emissions of a gasoline engine, using super and extra gasoline, through various static tests specified in the INEN 2 204:2002 Norm. All this to know its impact on the environment, and if the gases were within the parameters established by the INEN 2 204:2002 Norm. For the tests used a MAHA MET 6.3 approved gas analyzer, and a category vehicle M, with gasoline engine, injection system and a catalytic converter. As a guide in the ranges, the parameters established by the NTE INEN 2204:2002 have been used, in variables instead, the type and model of the vehicle and the height of the place. The main values taken into account are: carbon monoxide (CO), whose maximum allowed value is 1.0% CO and hydrocarbons (HC), whose maximum allowed value is 200 ppm HC. Among the results, it was found that additives that raised the amount of pollutants are found in the group classified as octane boosters, while, on the other hand, the so-called "cleaning additives" generated a decrease in polluting gases, mainly hydrocarbons. Carbon monoxides also showed certain variations, but in none of the cases they exceeded the maximum allowable levels. It is concluded that the selection of the vehicle and the state and conditions of the gas analyzer is crucial for optimal data collection. It is recommended to have close protective equipment and clean the probe and fuel lines to avoid errors or alterations in the analysis and collection of data.
