dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this project was to design a security and risk manual for Lateral Block 1 of the Science Faculty at ESPOCH (Unit Operations Laboratory, General and Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory, Industrial Processes Laboratory, Bromatology Laboratory, Biochemistry Laboratory, Biotechnology Laboratory) and to implement the design to reduce the risks and vulnerabilities present in the entity. The model for the Comprehensive Institutional Risk Management Plan proposed by the National Risk and Emergency Management Service has been used, which establishes guidelines for risk identification, capacity building, emergency management, institutional rehabilitation and recovery, as well as for the evaluation and monitoring of the plan. The starting point was a diagnosis of the current situation of the block in which threats, risks and vulnerabilities were identified that make the population weak to act in the face of an adverse event or to attend to an emergency. The INSHT Methodology was used for evaluating occupational risks and the MESERI Method for evaluating fire risk. The Ecuadorian Technical Standard INEN 3854-1 (Safety Symbols, Colors and Signs) was used as a basis for the efficient implementation of safety signs, and the NFPA 10 (Portable Fire Extinguishers) standard was followed for the installation of portable fire extinguishers. Due to the fact that the implementation of the plan was partial, it is recommended that it be completed in its entirety, taking into account what was stated in the PIGR.
