The objective of the following investigation was to establish a relationship between the dyslipidemia and the nutritional status of the obstetrics major students of the university of Guayaquil. This research, in which 172 students were analyzed, had a cross- sectional nature. The personal data was collected using surveys, the lipid values were obtained using the blood biometry and the nutritional status was checked using the anthropometry. The female population prevailed, 52,3% of them showed certain degree of overweight and 53,5% of fat to become overweight. The 40,1% of the people investigated showed an augmentation in the waist circumference. Also, 58,7 % of them presented risky values in the high- density lipoproteins. The total cholesterol (TC) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL) are significantly related with the frequent consumption of lipids and simple sugars, as well as with the non-frequent consumption (60,5%) of fruits and vegetables. The 79,7% of the test subjects have a family background of non-communicable chronical diseases. There is a great relationship between the lipidic factor and the nutritional status, and between the physical activity, the total cholesterol (TC), the low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL) and the and triglyceride (TG). It was concluded that the alterations in the lipidic profile have a negative impact in the anthropometric parameters of the students because their nutritional status is altered. For this reason, it is necessary to promote intervention studies aiming to diminish the prevalence of the dyslipidemia and improve the heath of the university students.
