Faced with a sadly imminent reality such as juvenile delinquency today, it is necessary to investigate the causes of crimes in adolescents. That is why, the present investigation addresses the factors that affect the commission of crimes in adolescents, with a mixed investigative approach through the application of semi-structured surveys to 10 adolescents who are in the process of socio-education, as a consequence of committing of a crime and who belong to a public institution in the country. Through the theoretical proposal of the Risk Need and Responsibility (RNR) model, criminal behavior in the aforementioned adolescents was taken as a dependent variable, and cognitive factors (criminal history, patterns and antisocial thinking), extrinsic factors ( criminal actions, problems at home and school) and intrinsic factors (management of free time, consumption of psychotropic substances). After the collection of qualitative data and their analysis, the results reveal that the main cause for which the population commits crimes are the extrinsic factors where the problematic situations in the home are the main subfactor, after the extrinsic factors are They find cognitive factors prioritizing antisocial thinking and finally intrinsic factors are the ones that least influence adolescents. With these data, the need to provide timely attention in areas of the family and social environment in adolescents and children to prevent criminal behavior in the future is evidenced.
