dc.description.abstractIn this research, a methodology is presented that performs reactive compensation in electrical power systems due to the constant growth and development to which they are subjected, which on the one hand takes into account the planning of the expansion in a horizon of 10 years and what FACTS devices provide active and reactive power, but in this specific case the STATCOM type compensator provides localized reactive power by evaluating the bus load voltage stability index (VSLBI), thus detecting the bus with the voltage profile most critical of all; likewise, it is projected with contingency states N-1 for the 14 and 30-bar models of the IEEE. Finally, in the DIgSILENT AND GAMS software, the methodology is verified with the results obtained from the improvement of the voltage magnitude in normal state and contingency state, with the compensation in the determined bus.
