The majority of cocoa production on the ecuadorian coast is not technified, this means that many of the farmers who grow cocoa do so by hand and in the traditional way. However there are times or seasons where the climate does not help the proper development of cocoa plants, likewise pests affect a large percentage of crops producing investment losses. Climate monitoring is an important factor for cocoa cultivation, for this reason it is important that the farmer is well informed of the weather conditions to be able to face any environmental eventuality that may affect his plantations.
