The present research work includes a systematic review of evidence-based studies on psychological intervention as a procedure to facilitate the processes of adherence to medical treatment in people diagnosed with leukemia. The objective of this study is to verify the importance and effectiveness of psychological intervention in people diagnosed with leukemia, whose adherence to treatment is affected by multiple factors. In the research search phase, 22 studies were analyzed that meet the criteria of scientific research catalogued as research or intervention articles, which allowed the study to be elaborated in three categories of analysis: firstly, leukemia types and treatments; secondly, the factors that affect therapeutic adherence, internal patient variables, the doctor-patient relationship, the disease-treatment process and the costs-benefits of the disease; and finally, psychological intervention, main activities and intervention models.
