This document analized the inclusion of the medium voltage system in direct current (MVDC), in a distribution substation, in order to solve the problems of unbalance of three-phase currents. The study was carried out in consideration of supplying electric power to the residential area, since it generates the greatest problem of current unbalance in the network. To this end, simulations were performed by means of different study scenarios that consider changing demand as a function of time, executed for the preliminary MVDC model and in the IEEE test model of 33 buses for distribution. As a result, an unbalance average of around 3.5% was obtained, in the balance of the current, and being within the range of other methodologies, such as the "Dynamic optimization algorithm" and "Phase shift, based on modified bat algorithm" which have an average imbalance of 1.64% and 5% respectively. Also it was possible to verify a slight higher load capacity in the system with MVDC, since a positive balance indicator was obtained in the buses of the IEEE model of 33 buses with MVDC of 0.2218, being higher compared to 0.08 of the normal system.
