Currently, comics and graphic novels have ceased to be specific views as a form of entertainment, and they have been given a more important role in society, where they can be tools for analyzing more controversial topics. In this case, the graphic novel "The Dark Knight Returns", by Frank Miller, through a discursive and rhetorical analysis has been to be an instrument that has allowed the understanding of one of the most important concepts that author Michel Foucault addresses in His works, "The Power." Frank Miller with "The Dark Knight Returns", took a radical turn to the character of Batman, where years ago of this graphic novel, he was seen as a comic character. With its arrival the comic industry revolutionized, thus building the graphic novel, with darker themes. In this case where Batman is no longer only a hero but also an antihero, who lives in a society in decline, where the media have taken control of the city. Michel Foucault in his works tells us about one of the most important concepts in a society and is power. With this graphic novel, this concept has been found in four important aspects: a man capable of exerting excessive force on a docile body, a teacher who dominates a girl, the media as a group of sabers that controls a population and a character considered "crazy", where his word is devalued for having stepped on a psychiatric hospital.
