This work focuses on the importance of conserving and revitalizing the intangible heritage on the knowledge of the humanized birth of Afro-descendant midwives from the Muisne cantón in the south of the Esmeraldas province, in Ecuador. Through three testimonies, the way in which this knowledge has been transmitted intergenerationally is recorded its own characteristics and the relationship of this ancestral knowledge with the western health system, framed in the current intercultural health proposal. It is urgent to make visible the need to manage the aplication of necessary safeguards so that the reproduction of life is valved, respected and humanized base on ancestral knowledge.
