The present degree project details the analysis of the generation of harmonic distortion produced by the fluorescent and LED type luminaries, which are located in the Physics laboratory of the Salesian Polytechnic University based in the city of Guayaquil. The analysis of the fluorescent type luminaires was carried out using an electrical network analyzer in six luminaires whose power is 2x32vatios, which make up the CA-11 lighting circuit. It was also determined which is the generation of harmonic distortion produced by LED-type luminaires, for which the measurement was carried out in a single 40-watt LED luminary. Subsequently, based on the results obtained from the harmonic analysis of both types of luminaires, a redesign of the physics laboratory lighting was carried out using software called DIALux®. In which the replacement of the fluorescent luminaires by LED units was evaluated. As a consequence, using the LED type luminiaries, a reduction of the values of harmonic distortion was obtained, as well as improvements in the quality of lighting and energy.
