dc.description.abstractThe following paper was made in order to improve the ironing linen production rate, in the company Sany Clean SA, located in Quito Ecuador, Eloy Alfaro Av. and Aceitunos St., near Comité del Pueblo neighborhood. Sany Clean’s business is industrial laundry washing, cleaning, ironing and caring for several lingerie, public and private. This company has been providing its services from five years ago, and currently has a production rate of 3000 pounds per day of processed items. This particular thesis is the design and simulation of a calender machine, which serves to iron clothes as sheets, tablecloths, blankets, towels etc., which are used by customers of the company. This calender will have a heating system based on water steam, which will be supplied by the available company boilers. Also the machine must have an efficient force transmission system, together with a design that ensures operator safety and proper machine operation. The calender design will be made based in the ability of water evaporation , with a steam heating system, over the clothes washers processed by the company. The moisture content of the fibers is considered to stay between 30 and 50%. Therefore the machine will have to meet production parameters required by the company The calender will have an output rate of 120 to 170 pounds per hour, which will remove the bottleneck in the process of ironing, plus to supply the current demand and increasing supply in the future, and achieve better delivery times to customers
